Explore Malaysia
A government super app for tourists: transport, family tracking, a travel wallet, real-time traffic and a Gen-AI guide, all in one trusted place.

Overview
One app for everything a visitor needs the moment they land.
Explore Malaysia gives tourists intelligent services in a single app: travel options, popular destinations, transport, historical insight and more, available across Malaysia. The brief was to fold many separate needs into one super app that still feels simple.
New arrivals juggle a dozen unfamiliar apps to do the basics.
Interviews with frequent visitors surfaced recurring obstacles around time, money and safety. People wanted one trusted, all-in-one app rather than piecing together services they did not know.

The super-app feature set
One app, ten services
Who I designed for
Careful with budget and safety. She wants to know costs upfront and feel secure about her belongings, without relying on expensive tourism companies.
Travels with family and prefers one app that does everything. He wastes time searching for local info and needs an easy way to access cash and honest guidance.
Photography-led onboarding introduces each service, then a modular home keeps wallet, traffic, family tracking and the AI guide one tap away.

Usability & outcome
Testing turned a broad feature set into something first-time visitors could actually navigate.
The real design problem was restraint: a super app can drown people in features. Two rounds of usability testing pushed me to add tutorials, clearer icons and detailed imagery so first-time visitors never felt lost.
- Guided onboardingUsers wanted tutorials, so each feature now explains itself the first time it is opened.
- Privacy on trackingFamily tracking felt exposed, so consent and clearer controls were added.
- Night modeRequested to save battery on long days out, added with accessible contrast.
